chondral defect lateral trochlea
« on: January 21, 2015, 08:24:40 AM »
I am having surgery on Jan. 26 for full thickness chondral defect. Doc says in the lateral trochlea. The size is around 1.2 cm. I have had knee surgeries in the past for other reasons on the same knee involving acl mcl ligament tears and patella broke in two. Had 4 total the last one in 1998. I am new here and wondering who else has had this cartilage issue and what to expect for recovery. Thanks

Might be best to explain what surgery is being done as there are a number of cartilage repair techniques, each with different challenges, rehabs, success rates.  There's a sub forum for cartilage repair, so you might find some information there :)

Surgeon has talked about three options depending on what it looks like when he performs the scope op. They were micro fracture, aci, and oats. Won't know for sure until the 26th when surgery is done. Thanks for response will put more on here after surgery.
