Lateral Release-pain and swelling 15 yrs after the fact?
« on: January 01, 2015, 03:45:32 AM »
The past several months I've been having pain while exercising any time the knee is fully flexed-it's in the spot where the tissue was removed during the lateral release procedure 15 years ago. Then the next day I have a lump full of fluid over that general area that makes my knee stiff until it subsides several days later. I'm at a loss over what could be going on so any input greatly appreciated.

Maybe ask a doctor for an MRI to check the condition of the cartilage in the lateral side of the patella / trochlea... even though the lump of fluid doesn't really match...

It could be many things... but here we are just patients like you, and all we can point out are things we been through which could or not be the same of yours... so long shot guesses which don't replace a proper evaluation...
