second meniscus surgery in 6 months - advice?
« on: October 10, 2014, 03:32:40 AM »
My doctor is fairly sure I tore my meniscus again less than 6 months after having arthroscopy to remove 30% of the medial meniscus. Pretty sure I tore it running up a few hills and walking in sand one weekend. Been in pain for 7 weeks, same spot as before, went to 3 different doctors who all say "likely tear but can't guarantee until we go in." The MRI was just a bit inconclusive.

Question to all of you - how was recover after a repeat arthroscopy so soon after the first? My first recovery was incredibly easy. Now that my muscles are atrophied and I feel generally WAY more out of shape, do you think the recovery is going to be that much worse? Plus having to take out even more meniscus?

Also, has anyone had arthroscopy where the MRI wasn't 100% sure it was a meniscus tear, and then they found NO tear? How was that (psychologically too)?

Thanks!
