knee injury
« on: August 20, 2014, 07:11:04 PM »
About 15 months ago I hit the center of my knee against the corner of my nightstand getting into bed in the dark. The pain was unbearable, I couldn't sleep comfortably for a few nights and I couldn't put weight on it after work at home for about a week. It was pretty swollen and I got an xray 2 weeks later which was normal. I saw a knee specialist who said my ligament is strong and to exercise on stationary bike. I did that on and off and I think it helped. So time passes and last month I went through PT for a month (finished PT July 18) and had an MRI which was normal. PT told me I have tendinitis to do the workouts they taught me at home for 3 months which I have been doing for a month so far. Anyway I know my knee is stronger because I don't have a giving out feeling anymore when I walk. I used to wear a band support that went right below your knee but don't since the cracking/popping doesn't happen anymore when walking. I am hopeful I heal in a few months but do wonder. Did I wait too long to deal with this? The sensation now is not painful, it is a weird feeling like something is there and I feel it right below the kneecap. My knee does look a little swollen on the bottom and I can tell the injured knee has a different shape/look to it than my good one. I am 26 year old male. I ice my knee for 15/20 mins everyday. Would a heating pad help? I'm not so sure what else if any I should look into doing. Thanks for the comments, I appreciate them.
