5 weeks post aclr swelling and pain
« on: July 24, 2014, 12:29:09 PM »
Hi, I'm 5 weeks post aclr and so far recovery has been going alright. I've woken up today and my knee has doubled in size and the whole joint feels very stiff and sore. I didn't do anything differently yesterday than previous days but it hurts enough and rom has decreased and I'm having to use a crutch to get around again. I'm not due to see the physio until next week so have a couple of questions...

Is this normal for aclr recovery or something to worry about? Since it's only been 5 weeks it's not really that long since the op.

Also, would you continue with the daily exercises or give it a break for a bit and let the swelling go down?

Cheers!

Hi Strangegravy:   Can you call your surgeon, Physical therapist  or primary care doc  for advice.   From what you said the swelling got worse and doubling in size is not right even 5 weeks out.   I would ice it to get the swelling down, rest and elevation as well.  It won't hurt but you really need to get it looked at.
Let us know.   LAS
