Hi
I was just wondering how long it took other people to get out of the splint after a Tibial Tubercle Transfer. I'm currently 6 weeks post-op. I went to see the surgeon and go to physio today. I had an xray done and the bone has healed. My surgeon told me I have to have the splint on for another 6 weeks before I can walk without it. I am full weight bearing, no crutches or anything. I've heard other people who bend their knee at 3 or 4 weeks post-op. My physio just told me today that I can gradually start bending my knee.

Why can't I have my splint off?
How many weeks along were you when you had your splint off?
Thanks for the help guys!  :D

Hi!
I had my immobilizer locked out straight for 6 weeks. After 6 weeks I was allowed to unlock it and begin weaning off of it.  So total time was probably about 8 weeks for me. I was able to bend my knee from day 1 post op, but each surgeon has different protocols. Each person is different too so he might think that's what is best for you or he might just be playing it a little more conservative :) That's great that you are full weight bearing!!
