yeah I will definitely see another specialist to get another opinion on this. From what I read, they expand the knee during the mini arthroscopy with some liquid so there more space to manoeuver. I hope that's the case with patella conditions to treat. My kneecap pops and clicks from time to time especially when I wake up since the incident. Also there are three methods for Chondrofiller, implant, gel and liquid. I'm pretty sure for patella they would you implant or gel which might be easier to reach the are instead of big needle ore something. I'm sure Canada will have the treatment in couple of years since Europe is already practicing it. What are your future plans for your knee Vickster?

No plans until I have to do something :)  I can't obsess about it any more!  I am past the stage of cartilage repair and none of the alternatives have any appeal (particularly as I can't countenance the thought of metal in there!)

That said, I may need it scoped if it doesn't settle down.  If it doesn't get better, I'll see my OS in the next 6-8 weeks again.  The injury to my shin and atrophy in my calf is far more bothersome

No new technologies will be funded for a very long time in the UK, my private insurer won't even cover MACI now.  I'm not interested in spending loads more money on my knee, other than perhaps another hyaluronic acid injection if required :)

are you bone on bone now? I heard Chondrofiller is covered by NHS. You might wanna check it out. If question is to only fill the wholes in the cartilage and so it solidify to point of keeping your knee alive for few more years that might be something to look at.

I don't know, possibly, depends on the state of the fibrocartilage in the femoral defect.  It did hurt when prodded last week, and the MRI in December showed it is deteriorating.  Not entirely surprising after more than 4 years.  Mostly I have grade 2-3 I believe (but not been scoped for a while now, and this isn't ever especially clear from an MRI.  I had grade 3 on my patella that didn't show up for example)

I'd be surprised if the NHS covered anything new!

Chondromalacia (softening of cartilage) is a symptom or sign of chondropathy (which is a very general term in itself)

I have no idea!  I am not a doctor.  Not sure why it matters though, there is a small amount of minor damage to the cartilage on the patella and the rest of the MRI is fine :)

why i want it fixed is because of my kneecap cracking and popping. it's not painful but i feel that with every step i'm taking and knee cap not being properly tracking within the groove i'm doing more damage to it.

You'll need to get the tracking fixed though or repairs will likely fail in time.  This is a rather bigger deal.  You need X Rays and CT scans I believe to determine the extent of malalignment, MRI isn't so good for bones

My joints crack constantly, but no pain = no real worry.  My knee pops more having had the patella cartilage tidied as a vacuum is created but doesn't hurt per se

well the MRI says that patella is in its anatomical position so why do I have knee tracking problem? Could it be due to muscle imbalance? Maybe my IT band is really tight

What does your physio say?  Are you working on the IT band with stretches and even foam rolling?  All of the structures in the leg are important to work on, or you get imbalance as I understand it :)

my PT said that my knee caps are not aligned as they should be something about my knees not bending inward properly. We are working on foam rolling all the muscles since they are very tight and I got lots of knots in them. Hurts so much when rolling over.

There are some good stretches for ITB too. As well as calves, quads, glutes etc.  What sports do you play, maybe you need to ease off for a while

I'm alergic to sports, trust me, I ain't done none. What led me to all this is my very intense walking without warming up, muscles got so tight and knotty. Then I started doing squats to get my muscles balanced out and the whole crap started with my knee. Now I'm stretching and rolling them to get them back to original state, but that will take very long time cause they are soooo tense.
