tendon trouble

Hi,
when I run (on bad shoes) for a long distance, or ice-skate, or even ride a bicycle a lot during a heavy training, I develop a very irritated tendon indeed, which keeps hurting for about 3 days. I think it's called the biceps femoris tendon, and it hurts where it connects to the knee joint (the tibia bone).
Does anybody know whether this is serious / what I should do about it?

Oops, after looking at a lot of anatomy pictures I think it might be the tendon connects to the head of the fibula. But I'm sure it's the biceps femoris tendon.
