Lump on patellar tendon and everything so far!
« on: June 01, 2014, 03:11:16 PM »
Hi all,

Firstly my name is Lee, I am 28 and from the south on England. I have been having knee problems for around 8 years maybe more. It all started when I fell off my bmx and my knee gave way/buckled underneath me! I fell from about 20foot and landed in a mess with my bike so it was pretty painful. I went up to the hospital and they told me to just go home and take ibuprofen and paracetamol, it swelled up like a balloon and was incredibly painful for a few weeks, I then moved to Australia for a year so forgot all about it (although it did feel quite unstable for some time) I started body building and gained a lot of power and stability in my leg up until it blew out again when tripping in a rugby match and putting my leg down hard (same swelling/instability pain etc) again it recovered and I carried on for years with this occasionally happening but only in drastic situations IE: sports. The easter weekend however I fell off a roof and this swelling/give way happened but worse than ever and I could not sleep for days or stand and the pain was incredible so I went to the doctors who sent me to the specialist knee consultant with a suspected ACL tear, I am now waiting for the MRI scan next week but since then I have found a small painless lump on my patellar tendon, its on the left hand side if looking at it from above and feels quite small and as I said painless but I was wondering what this could be? a previous tear? scar tissue? etc! any advice would be very much appreciated!

Thank you,

Lee.

The small bump is only there when in tense the tendon, when I relax my leg or straighten it it just feels like the tendon is really tight/hard on the inside and all along the edge if you like from where it joins the boney lump on my tibia up to my patella
