Mystery knee?
« on: May 06, 2014, 11:47:54 PM »
Hi there,
I'm hoping someone out there can help me out...
Feb 28/14 I was involved in a soccer injury. I was taken to the hospital, they performed X-rays (everything normal) and the ER doc said MCL tear. I had a follow up with an orthopaedic specialist the following week, and he confirmed, grade 3 MCL tear. 3 weeks later (around the time I started physio rehab), another follow up with the orthopaedic specialist, my ROM was still only 60 degrees. At my next follow up (6 weeks post injury) my ROM was still between 60-65 degrees. At this point, the ortho doc sent me for an MRI (within 24 hours) concerned of a meniscal and/or ACL tear. MRI showed ONLY an MCL tear. 8 weeks in I see ortho doc again he refers me to ortho surgeon. Week 8 I have consult, he suggests arthrofibrosis. Week 9 I have surgery (pre-surgery, rom 65): manipulation under anaesthesia, followed by arthroscopy. During manipulation he was able to bend my knee such that my ankle was at my butt; he found no tears with arthroscopy (and MCL is healed). The surgeon wanted me to start aggressive physio immediately after surgery. 3 days later I went to physio, ROM 67....after some manipulation by the physio I can get to about 80 degrees, but it's excruciating ..
Someone please tell me they know whats going on? :( Every physio at my clinic is just so baffled by my mystery knee, and I don't see my surgeon for a follow up for another 3 weeks!
