Knee injury just before final exams!
« on: April 27, 2014, 11:59:13 PM »
I injured my knee skiing just over 2 weeks ago. I'll be starting PT and having an MRI tomorrow. From my initial meeting with the orthopaedic consultant, it looks pretty certain that my MCL is ruptured and my ACL/LCL are torn/ruptured.

I've been resting, taking painkillers and icing my leg as recommended, but I've still experienced a lot of pain and as a result I've been sleeping fairly awfully.

My final school exams start this Thursday (4 days away), and last 3 weeks. My school have been supportive with ensuring that I'll be as comfortable as possible on the day, but I'm worried that my lack of sleep will affect my performance on the day. Can anyone recommend ways to improve my sleep? I've tried elevating my leg, and also sleeping on my side with pillows between my legs, but that's not helping. Are there any medicines that can be bought over the counter in the UK to help sleep?

Thanks in advance for any advice!
