Lateral knee pain above kneecap.
« on: March 28, 2014, 06:29:43 AM »

Approximately, 4 months ago I suffered an injury in the gym. I was picking something heavy off the ground. I felt a sharp pain about 1 inch above the knee cap and around 1 inch in the lateral (outside) direction. The pain was sharp however not severe enough that I couldn't walk. I did feel a snap around the time of the injury. On a scale of 1 - 10, it was about a 5.

Fast forward until today, I still have pain. The knee cap clicks when bending in a completely reproducible manner - everytime it bends. I have pain at rest and is onset when the knee is bent. Even without doing any type of activity, sitting at my desk with my knee bent, there is a dull pain.

So far I've seen one two doctors, one orthopod, and a PT and we've I've yet to get a diagnosis. I don't think the problem is in the knee itself, instead the area above it - around about the lateral epicondyle.

Has anybody had any experience with something similar?
