Complex Tear?
« on: December 31, 2013, 09:08:08 PM »
Hi everyone, great sight and possibly only place to turn to.
Out of work 4 weeks. MRI revealed complex tear of posterior horn of medial meniscus with horizontal and radial components. Also moderate to high grade cartilage defect over posterior aspect lateral femoral condyle with underlying subchondral bone marrow edema/cyst formation. Small joint effusion.
It took 4 weeks to get WC approval for PT which is what the doctor prescribed.
Is PT going to help me or am I just postponing necessary surgery?
FMLA can protect me only for 12 weeks and the clock is ticking!

Yes, I think you need surgery. PT wont fix these issues. I would go see a surgeon and get his opinion asap. You need to fix the meniscus and "high grade cartilage defect" soon to prevent further damage and for the long term health and mobility of your knee.
