I can't fully extend my knees
« on: September 15, 2013, 10:51:34 AM »
I'm 18. Never had any knee injuries in the past, or surgery. I can't fully extend my knees and it really messes up my posture- it's been like this for at least 4 or 5 years, probably longer. When I try and do a straight leg raise I absolutely cannot get it to 90 degrees. There's no real pain, the leg just locks before I can straighten it to 0 degrees. As a result I always stand like I have slightly bent knees, and stand on the balls of my feet rather than the heels like most people (Standing on the heels causes my knees to feel uncomfortable and bend even more)

I've heard the term "hypoextended knees", but haven't been able to find anything useful. All I've found searching google is people who only encountered this problem after serious injury/surgeries, and people on ballet dancing forums who don't seem to even have it based on the pictures they post.

Any idea what I can do?

Hi

Reading through your post, there is no mention that you have been seeking medical advise from a Doctor or Orthopaedic Consultant.

Your knees are very important limbs - so a medical opinion is your top priority
