OATs question
« on: January 06, 2020, 11:38:22 PM »
Hello, I had OATs surgery on my trochlear and my medial femoral chondyle 8 weeks and three days ago. I was told 6 weeks non weight bearing then ween off of the crutches.
I am having a hard time ditching the crutches. My knee is pretty sore and I can only walk a about 10% of the time without the crutches.
I was wondering how long it usually takes to start walking after being allowed to bear weight.

Hi - have you done much exercising of the knee during the 8 weeks post op? Also do you know the size of the lesion you had plugged, as this often has a bearing on how soon you should ditch the crutches?

Normally you can progress to fully weight bear after 6 weeks but speak to your physio who should know your own op details and what is appropriate for you.

Good luck!
