Advice on TKR when patient is opiode tollerant
« on: July 02, 2013, 07:40:00 PM »
Hi All

After four surgeries I have fivnally decided on a TKR as I can no longer work onn my feet for more then 2 Hours before pain is intolerable. I'm aware there no guarantee of success but if I cant work in my field I won;t be able to live, pay bills ect. One of my major concernes is that I have been taking opiates for the last four years the last year and a half, in order for me to work I have been taking high amonts of opiates , does anyone have any advice on opiodes , in brief Fentanyl 100 patches, 600 mg Kadian/morphine oxy 80 2 x day oxy IR 5x 30. I hear the surgery is very painful I have discussed with OS, he says I'll be alright has anyone had a TKR and can give some advice on what I should demand the OS give me to make the pain bearable considering my high level of tolerance. Also has anyone had a TKR and had drop foot after the surgery.
