Athlete with partial patella rapture

I am writing here because I have visited whatever ”specialist” in the range of 150 km from my hometown Aalborg, Denmark.
Last year I finished seventh in my age group in the World Champion ship of long distance triathlon. This year I cannot run 10 meters without heavy pain because of my partial raptured patella tendon.

History

• End July crashed my bike and had a stained coccyx (Later I figured out my sacrum was also rotated)
  Start of October my coccyx was getting better and started biking again, but from here of the hell slowly started.
• I starting being sore of where the partial rapture came later on which is at the very proximal part of patella tendon. (see picture below)
• It got worse and a visited an orthopedic who diagnosed as a partial rapture of patella tendon. I had 2 x Plasma Riched Replacement with no crucial affect that I could feel (Given in October and November 2012).
• I visited a chiropractor in December who found a very locked and rotated pelvis (picture below). From December- February this got better and better and is no longer an issue. However, this might have caused the domino bricks to crash at earlier stage?
• End December I started getting Shockwave Therapy 86 times with 2 weeks in-between). Again, with no affect.
• In February a visited a new orthopedic who once again using MR found the small rapture/jumpers knee but no other issue at spine or knee.
• In the whole period, I have done whatever rehabilitation training that I was asked for. With eccentric training, slowly heavy training, cycling, and other VMO basic exercises.

Today:

• Left leg (injured leg) is 5 cm smaller in circumference than healthy leg.
• I can walk slowly down stairs pain without pain
• I can cycle in easy gears without pain
• I get high swelling in area of VMO and patella tendon after activity
• I get small “twitch” muscle activity when laying down over a long period or after training. Don’t know if twitch is the right word but small activation of espacilly the VMO
• The VMO is almost disappeared

Questions:

• What is wrong? How can a small rapture, which I was told would only take weeks, take me so long?
• Is there any ting else, I can try?
• Any who can recommend someone I could visit in Denmark / Northern Germany?

Hi Mifsuddk - welcome to the RPT thread - from what you have described and shown on the photographs, it looks like you have sustained a RPT tear as against a Ruptured Patella Tendon, where the tendon is torn from the  patella (kneecap).   Am surprised that no surgery was required to put the tendon together.

I have meanwhile sent you a set of documents which I have compiled over the years, although the rehab maybe to strenuous if you have sustained a partial tear.  I would have thought that you could obtain a better opinion in Copenhagen, which is not too far from Jutland.

Hi Niclai

It just seemed logical to me that Copenhagen would be your nearest best  facility to treat your injured knee.
