E-stim: safe for cartilage?
« on: April 04, 2013, 10:56:54 PM »
I had a DeNovo cartilage graft on my patella, and now I've been prescribed a Kneehab e-stim machine to do neuromuscular stimulation and wake my sleepy quads up.

Of course I'm following doctor's orders, but there are a few things I changed (like stopping NSAIDs) after learning that the research is unclear on whether they help or hurt in cases of cartilage damage. Better to be on the safe side and ask for another way around the problem.

So...has anyone else used Kneehab or some other neuromuscular stim after a cartilage repair, and still had good results at your checkup MRI?

Thanks!
