11 months post surgery...is this normal
« on: March 12, 2013, 10:14:09 PM »
Hi all,

Very new to this but 10.5 months ago I had an ACL recontruction.

Probably useful to tell you a bit about myself:
I have quite bad hypermobile joints; I have tendinitis in both wrists, problems with my RH thumb, Chondromalacia patellae on my 'good knee' and on my bad knee I've had an ACL reconstruction and partial MCL tear. My ACL repair was the result of a collision which I had with a guy whilst playing Korfball (mixed sex sport).

Anyway in general my recovery from surgery has been great. Had surgery in late April and was back in full games of Korfball (agressive netball,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WD_ZZkBV98s) after 4.5 months.

Generally speaking I've not had trouble with my knee, but some things have never gone back to normal. Firstly the movement of bending my knee upward (as in to stretch my quadriceps) is still very very poor i can only lift it about 80/85 degrees whereas my good knee is about 90/95. Next problem I have is that my upper calf muscle sometimes feels as if its been pulled, it is desperately painful and is exasperated by certain shoes (wellies)

Any advise would be greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance.

Louise
