Hi Figgi.. My knee Doc said there are times that you cannot see tears and such on the MRI's. I had a couple MRIs and nothing was seen on them. When the dr did the arthoscopy my knee was encased in scar tissue. I mean completely encased in it. So much that when he removed it all I had absolutely no stability left. You would think that would have been able to be seen on the MRI. But sure enough.. After two MRI's NOTHING.. So talk to your dr about what next. I am a firm believer in we need to listen to our bodies and WE know best. I fought with my knee surgeon on my issue telling him I knew there was a scar band and showed him exactly where it was. He said the MRI is clear and nothing there. He went as far as calling the morning of the surgery to talk me out of it. I knew that band was there (I had had 4 sugeries prior to this) He said ok.. But we wont find anything.. Well after surgery he told me I was right and there was a very large scar band at the base of the patella tacking it down and pinching. Also telling me I have over a 30* rotationin my tibia. Needless to say... I found a new knee surgeon after this when the pain was back and to address the tibia issue.. He did the other MRI and another scope and was the one to find the massive scarring in the knee. He also was shocked that  no one has addressed the tibia.. That is next on the list. So what I am getting at is just because the MRI says there is no issue you need to keep at it and look else where. Did you know that issues in your hip an be causing your knee pain? Your alighnment can also be causing issues in the knee ... Find a Dr that cares to HELP YOU find the answer. Here I am 6 surgeries later and FINALLY found the Dr I should have had from the beginning. Good luck!!!  I hope you get all your answers! Don't give up!!!

Cassie Thanks for the reply I saw one doctor and he said i have torn my ACL and had wear and tear on the meniscus so he referd me to an ACL specialist as he didnt deal with the ACL only meniscus so the second doctor said he couldnt see anything on the scans so now he has sent my scan results to another specialist to see if he has missed something I go back to hospital on monday.

It is rather frustrating dealing with the back and forth. I have done it for years. Best thing I could say is find a knee specialist. One that deals with all knee issues.. It has literally taken me 10 years to find the right DR. I have gone through 6 of them. I finally found a surgeon that is known as the knee guru in Washington and wants to help me get BETTER.. The others would not listen to my complants and would not listen when I told them I knew what the real problem was. So find a specialty center if you can that has complete knee specialists.  :)
