« on: October 03, 2012, 02:02:17 AM »
I have had knee pain for about 5 months.I'm active, hike, wake board, snowboard and more.my pain started when standing from a sitting position and has progressivly got worse.went to the doc and was told it was probably a torn meniscus, but my mri was clean.went to a specialist and he says he is confident is plica pain.my knee pops all the time.hard to sit cross legged, couldn't wakeboard on it because of the way mt knee is bent it hurt.hurts to bend.down on it.i have been able to do 5 mile hikes without poison during but later when I sit down can't hardly get up.can anyone tell me there experience with plica issues? I go in for surgery next tuesday.I'm scared and snowboard season is coming I'm not sure I'll be able to board with my knee bent at an angle.any info regarding surgury before and after would be helpful..thank you

Hi!  I had a plica removed last year.  It was a fairly easy surgery and recovery.  I was on crutches for a couple days and started pt 2 days after surgery.  The pain wasn't too bad after the surgery and the plica pain was completely gone after it was removed.  I had full range of motion back within a week.  You should be able to snowboard after you've healed and gotten the okay from your surgeon.  Good luck!!
