One week post op!

Still nearly as swollen as it was after surgery. My knee is starting to itch, which is the incisions healing. Well I can't scratch because it hurts my knee when I try.

I noticed 4 dots (small like shot dots) on my knee. But I'm pretty sure I didn't get shots, or not 4 of them in my knee during surgery. I remember reading somewhere that they made them for something during surgery but I forgot and I can't find the article anymore.

Anyone know what it is?

I was getting worried that I was suppose to be bending my knee, so my grandmaw called them today and they said yes and that I can weight bear as tolerated.
I'm so behind! It's 2 weeks on Friday and I haven't bent my leg at all. It's going to be horrible when I start PT

My steri strips started coming up so I pulled them off. One was healed. One was halfway healed. And the other one was filly open. I put bandaids on all of them but left the strips on the open one.

I am finally 2 weeks and a day post op!

I'm down to one crutch, I was suppose to be off of them yesterday, but it's not working out. I can put weight on my knee (hurts a ton) but I can't bend it enough to walk normally, I have to swing my leg around.

I start PT on Wednesday. I'm kind of scared. My doctor told my parent's that there was only two place by me that did his "protocol" for this surgery, thankfully one of them was the place I went to last year.

I am still having to take pain meds around every 5 hours. I can't take any at school. So I take one in the morning, when I get home, then as needed. (I forgot to take one yesterday, and boy oh boy, I was in some pain)

(Picture was taken yesterday. Left knee is sunburnt. You might even be able to see the many dots, which I found more of them under the steri strips. The longest cut is the one closest to my thigh)

First post op appointment today. (I started walking yesterday with a huge limp, my knee won't bend enough to walk normally)

He came in and he immediately said okay lay back and lets see how this bending is. I think maybe I can get 15-20 degrees flexion on my own) So he had me go to the end of the table and he made my leg drop, which was absolutely horrible and he held it and dropped a little more. I ended up getting 40 degrees with his help.
He had me go back to the end of the table and do a SLR. I couldn't. My leg wouldn't even move. He said I need to get that done. He asked me if I was on crutches and I said no, I was suppose to get off them Friday, but I did yesterday. HE IS MAKING ME GET BACK ON THEM! He said he wants my knee to fully recover and my leg is way too weak to be walking.
The dots on my knee is from him bringing the suture in and out. He said I had so many because he would do one, but then he didn't like it so he took it out. He showed me all the pictures. My MPML was really loose so he was surprised that he had too put 3 sutures instead of one.
He asked me to show him how I walk, and he was like oh no no no, you are not walking like that. And when we got out the room, he was mocking my walk and laughing lol
I go back in a month. He said I am doing fine for being 2 weeks out on this type of surgery. PT Wednesday.

First day at PT..almost 3 weeks since surgery..KICKED MY ASS

They were all disappointed to see me since I had another surgery. He did my ROM on both legs. My left one was a little under what it was suppose to be and my right one was 35. He did some other tests to see how strong it was, well weak should be the word lol

I did my "homework" exercises.. I had to do a stretching calf one with a towel thing, quad sets, knee flexion with the towel, hip abduction, and SLRS. I couldn't lift my leg up, so he basically did them for me.

Then I went to the nubike, a lot of older people use it. I was on it for about 9 minutes.

Then i had the option to do stem and ice, rushin, or more exercises. I let him choose and he chose more exercises. So he made my stand back up and lift my leg out, sideways, and backwards. Then I went back on the table and I had to use my glutes to push my ankle down and then do like a sideways raise.

Hello, good luck with your PT! I know it's hard but it should get better day by day, so don't give up! I'm only 4 days post op, so I'm behind you, anxiously waiting for my PT- but also scared as hell!
Do you have special brace or no?

@martussa

What did you have done? This PT is nothing compared to the one I had last year after my other surgery. I didn't get an immobilizer, which I'm thinking they forgot to give me one. My PT thought my tan lines were from it, but it was from the ace wrap.
I wear my brace I got before surgery with my old doctor, i thought I was going to play soccer, but it didn't work out.

25 DAYS POST OP TODAY!

I can officially get off of crutches unless I think I need one at school. My SLRS are pretty bad but i'm lifting my leg up. It also feels like my medial side, something is going to pop, but he said that's because it was so loose before, this is how it should be and it's normal.
When I flex my quad there's nothing there at all haha. I'm walking with a terrible limp which is hurting my hip.
I was also told that I hyper extend both of my knee, especially my right knee, so I need to try to work on it. I asked my PT how long until I'm healed and he said 5-6 months and 6-7 months until i could play soccer if I was going to play.

I am still limping and still have some pain on my medial side.
I have this hard bump on my knee. (looks bigger in person) I noticed it a few days ago. I waited a few to see if it was going to go away before I told my therapist

He moved it around and messed with it and said it is prolly a suture (one of them from him tightening up my MPML) trying to come up. He didnít really say how it will go away. He did say it was weird.
I will ask on my OS appointment on the 15th

And girl I know at school had the same surgery as me and she had the same thing on her knee. The trainer thought it was a piece of bone, it ended up being a suture.

And guess what! From the research Iíve done on the computer I was suppose to have an immobilizer after surgery! On my first post op appointment he said, whereís your brace? He looked confused. I thought he was talking about my regular breg brace Iíve been wearing. Then at PT they thought my tan was from my immobilizer, and I said I didnít get one. The girl I know who had the bump just got her other knee done and she is in one. (Last time at the doctor he was asking if I knew her and that she had the same surgery done as me)
I will ask him when I go

Overall I'm pretty positive this surgery as worked! My knee hasn't popped out yet.

@teache2many

I just did it, without one, and it was a horrible experience. My sister, her husband, her friend, and her friends boyfriend helped me. They put my leg in a garbage back and tape the top. They put a step stool in the tub. I sat on the edge and put my left leg in. Then I stood up leaning on my crutch.† Someone took my leg and tried to put it down, but it won't bend and there wasn't enought room. So they got my nephews bumbo (sitting thing for babies) put it upside down and we lowered my leg on to it. I took my shirt and bra off before the water turned on. Then I took a shower with my shorts and stuff still on. After I was done I put my clean clothes on, left my wet bottoms on. They all came back in and I moved myself to the edge and someone took my bad leg and lowered it to the ground and then I got my bottoms on

Many tears and selective words came out lol. I have no idea how I will do this when I go back home tomorrow.

Hear I am 53 years old, and I was sobbing because of the pain in the hospital, after the external fixation surgery. The nurses gave me the strongest medication they had, after contacting my OS, and told me, "This won't get rid of all the pain, but it will make it so you don't care."

I've been through a lot of pain in my life, at 42 I thought I was dying because of Celiac Disease, and I had every symptom under the sun, but it was nothing compared to a broken knee from a lateral injury. I fell down into a step stool that a board knocked from under me, and my knee broke sideways in the metal tubing.

1 month and 11 days post op

-My SLRS aren't straight, but I can lift my leg up
-I walk with a tad limp still
-I am now doing stool walks, which is when you sit on this rolling stool and pull yourself around
-Leg press is on 45..i push with mostly my left leg
-I am still doing russian. When I do streches/excerises like kick outs, my leg uncontrollably shakes from being fatigued
-I am still having some pain, especially at night. I sleep with my legs bent, and I wake up and my knee is stuck.
-I still have that "bump" there
-I got to 95 degrees flexion, and i'm -3 I think on extension
-I can't straighten my leg at all

My appointment was today, i went and signed in.
The lady at the desk then informs me that there was no appointments this afternoon because the dr was at the hospital

..Right when I got my appointment card, I put it in my phone. And I remember the lady telling me, oh it will be exactly a month since my last appointment, which was on the 15th

I have to go monday at 1. I miss therapy today for nothing.

Went to the doctor today!

He was not happy that I could not straighten my leg. He put me in an immobilizer. I have to wear it basically all the time. The bump is a suture that will eventually go back down. I have "INTENSE" therapy now to straighten my leg. I'm pretty positive that this will help since I will be wearing it at night.

I got another prescription for loratab and a prescription for valium? I don't know why that.

We scheduled my left knee surgery for December 7th, a Friday.

If I can do it twice, I can do it one more time!

What do you mean when you say he wasn't happen that you can't straighten your leg?  Your previous posted listed -3 degrees of extension so is he not happy with extension or active extension with straightening (such as trying to kick your leg out after sitting with it over the edge of the bed, table, etc.).
