Hello all,
I am a 20 year old male who has undergone an ACL and a meniscus repair about 2 years ago. For about a year and a half, my knee felt perfectly fine and I was able to return to sports. It was like I had received my life back. However, for the past year, I have been dealing with a sharp pain in my inner knee every time I try to play sports. The pain is sudden and normally occurs when I'm jumping and I land on the knee. This sharp pain will last for about three days until my knee is absolutely pain-free. I can walk, squat, do stairs, and even do some light jump roping without any pain at all. I do however have pain while running. It's only if I jump high and land on my knee, do I have an issue for a couple days. This has rendered my ability to play sports. I recently went to my doctor and he recommended that I tibial and a femoral osteotomy in my leg. This is based on doing an osteoradiogram which indicated that I am off angle by about 5 to 6 degrees in the dwmour and the tibia. I always assumed that an osteotomy was required for someone who has consistent pain while walking, like in arthritis.
Do you guys think that this recommendation is correct? Thank you.
