Hypermobility and Patellar Subluxation in a 4 year old
« on: September 10, 2012, 01:56:46 PM »
Hi I'm new to this site. I have a 3 year old daughter (soon to be 4) who has just been diagnosed with a Patellar Subluxation of her left knee. She was diagnosed with joint hypermobility when she was under 1 years old and is in fact extremely hypermobile in her knees. The rest of her joints are less so but she is a very bendy child! I also have hypermobility and suffer with various issues related to me left knee (including 3 failed ACL reconstructions). Does anyone else have any experience with very young children suffering with the same problems and if so do you have any suggestions on best ways to help build her muscles up? She will shortly be starting Physio again including sessions of Hydrotherapy. I am looking into swimming classes, and she is already enrolled in a dance class.

Hi there,

I would suggest taking her to see a Sports Physician to determine what types of exercise and sport are suitable for her.

There is a great clinic in London called Pure Sports Medicine. I have EDS Hypermobility type and was a regular patient there when I lived in London.

Dr Mike Bundy is meant to be very good.

Their website is www.puresportsmed.com

Hope this helps.
