Knee won't straighten fully
« on: August 13, 2012, 04:22:26 PM »
My knee won't straighten properly. If I try and straighten it it sort of locks and shakes really badly. It will only straighten it i put my hands either side of the knee cap and pull it which hurts until it is straight. When I go to bend it again, it kind of pops and feels really funny like its about to crumble. What could this be??

ps. I have been a dancer for 15 years so I am pretty flexible  :)

Hi nicola

Could be anything in there!! without a scan it is very hard to tell exactly what has happened.

It could be a bit of loose cartilage getting trapped or swelling in the joint after a strain of a ligament which you may/may not have known about?!

Knees are really funny things and it could simply just go away! with a bit of light exercise or it could get worse and cause more pain and damage.

Either way see your gp if you are worried and get booked in for an mri...
