bard blow to mcl side. swelling all over.

Hi all. I had an accident yesterday where i received a hard violent blow to the inside of my knee between the mcl and patella. There is lots of swelling and i cannot bear weight without the aid of a crutch. There is pain on both sides but i can't tell if it is due to the swelling or what. I sure don't want to go through this again but with all the swelling i don't have a good feeling. Anyone have something similar happen and what was your diagnosis?

Swelling is down a lot but now there is a sharp pinching in the knee cap? Is this meniscus damage?

It could be any one thing that is causing a pinching sensation. Best approach would be to get checked by a specialist.

Hi thanks for the response. The hard blow came from a horses hoof; the day before i was to leave on vacation. I do have a dr appointment set. But it's. Not until next month. My knee feels like it catches and pinches something with almost every step. Swelling remains on the medial side and under the knee cap itself. Most of the pain comes from the knee cap area. What might most likely be the problem?

It could be a meniscus that has been damaged and is being pinched as you move. Or it could be some internal tissue swelling that is interfering with movement. Really hard to just guess what it could be.
A horse kicked you?
That is very scary!

You need to see a doctor to find out what the problem is; we're not experts here and can't see your knee, so anything we say is simply a guess. With a blow like that, the possibilities range from bone bruising to cartilage damage to an injury to either the MCL where the blow landed, or LCL from the lateral pressure. If you remain concerned by the symptoms, don't leave it a month to see a doctor. You need to find out exactly what's going on so that you can treat the injury properly and give it the best chance of recovery.

You are right. I am trying to get a quicker appointment. There is definitely something wrong. Thanks for the encouragement.
