Anyone with autoimmune illness and knee problems?
« on: June 19, 2012, 05:09:55 PM »
Just wondering because I was diagnosed with undifferentiated connective tissue disease which means there is an autoimmune illness going on but the doctor isn't sure which or possibly a combo of RA and Lupus. My mother has RA. I have flares especially in my hands/hips and back where the joints swell and burn and get very stiff and painful (that kind of sickening pain that's hard to describe.) My knee 11 months after my accident (and no surgery) is still swollen, hot, painful and extremely stiff. Most of the symptoms are due to my accident but several doctors and my PT (and I) are sort of wondering if a some of it is related to the autoimmune condition.
I still have one finger-left index-that doesn't bend fully because I injured it during a flare years ago. Yesterday was the first day in 11 months where I could bend it, albeit slowly and painfully but without it taking 20 minutes to an hour.
Does anyone else have autoimmune illness and if so does it affect your knees in any way in recovery from surgery or accidents?
Accident 2011: permanent dislocation, hole under the patella, bone fragments/debris embedded, scar tissue, 3 torn ligaments, fracture, cartilage sheared off, contracture,
