Medial knee Plica 3 weeks out
« on: June 06, 2012, 04:59:16 PM »
Hi everyone:

I'm 3 weeks out post surgery from medial Plica removal from my right knee... I feel about 90 percent, range of motion is only being restricted by my skin healing over the incisions...

I started light single leg knee extension and very light leg pressing, and Ive found my symptoms prior to surgery have returned, with even more of a catch or sliding sensation right before full knee extension.

Could this be due to the Plica not being totally removed, scar tissue forming improperly, or somthing else?

I have a Check up on Friday June 8th but was look for some help prior?

Thanks!

Leg extensions are usually bad if you had medial plica issues (they don't seem to bother me though) and will irritate that area. What kind of physical therapy did the surgeon prescribe to you? Try wall sits or something more conservative before jumping to leg extensions and leg presses. Also, don't neglect the hip strengthening.
Have had tilted kneecaps for many years, and occasional patellar tendinitis.
