Anyone with this experience.
« on: August 23, 2011, 08:37:19 PM »
I am approximately 3yearsbout from TKR. Last night my knee started buckling and when i would extend my leg straight out itnautomatically jerked backwards.i was even woken up twice in my sleep by knee discomfort most likely from some movement in my sleep.

Doctor says he doesn't know what to make of automatic knee jerk reaction and just advised quad exercises to help prevent knee buckling. This came on suddenly and is very unnerving. Anyone else experience this? What was the diagnosis? What helped?

Thanks

krampa, did you manage to find a solution to the knee buckling? It could certainly be due to weak quad muscles..
Have had tilted kneecaps for many years, and occasional patellar tendinitis.

I have no idea why it would jerk like that. I do think keeping all your support muscles strong could't hurt. Have you tried stretching? Maybe if you see a PT they could best advice you. Goodluck I hope everything works out for you.
