am 7 months post knee reconstruction and had been running well since about 5 months post-op (ie, no pain, no swelling, no instability) - in the last day or so, the mild knee effusion (which persisted & persisted & persisted postoperatively) has returned.  has anyone else experienced this?  i will start icing it again and cross train rather than running...hope that's all it takes

Definitely do the R- Rest, I- Ice, C-Compression, E-Elevation routine. Running is really hard on the knees. Perhaps you could consider taking up a different sport like some of us here (including me).
Have had tilted kneecaps for many years, and occasional patellar tendinitis.
