Hi everyone,
As a quick summary, I am a 25 year old male with Refractory Celiac Disease, Addison's Disease and Hypopituitary Disease. I basically just have a bad immune system haha. I never have had any injuries to my knees and I do not do run or exercise my legs all that much. I'm not sure if it has any relevance but I have gone down from 175lbs to 125lbs in the last 2 years due to my Refractory Celiac Disease. I am currently on Prednisone for 6 months to put it in remission and to hopefully put the weight back on. I'm not sure if this weight loss can affect my joints, but I wanted to put it out there. Anyways, I recently noticed my left knee making a popping noise when I move it and it has began to get stiff/painful. Then a month ago I noticed a lump behind my knee. I had an ultrasound that came back showing the following (report below). Does anybody know why this would happen without any injuries or repetative exercise and also at a young age? If anybody has any experience with what U/S says, input is always appreciated. I'm in Canada, so I am waiting about 6 months before I can see a specialist, so I am curious as to what started all this. Thanks a lot.
Ultrasound of Left Knee
There is no tendon or ligament tear noted. There is 4.0 x 1.0 x 1.0 cm Baker's Cyst. There is a small amount of fluid in the intrapatellar bursa. There is also a 2.7 x 2.8 x 0.8 cm fluid collection between the Gracillis and Sartorius tendons. This fluid does not communicate with the joint space or with the Baker's Cyst.
Impression: No tendon or ligament tears. Baker's Cyst noted above. Second small fluid collection. Third collection as described above, possibly within a unknown bursa or a hematoma. Clinical correlation is recommended.
