Will I ever grow again post ACL surgery?
« on: April 06, 2012, 12:57:49 PM »
Hey Guys, I had my ACL reconstructed on the 14th of October 2010. Everything is back to normal, I'm able to play competitive sport again and I recently ran 10k without a problem.

I was just curious, will I ever grow again? I'm 5ft 5 and I'm 16 years old. Has the surgery affected the likelihoods of me growing again? My younger brother who is 15 is taller than me!

Thanks a lot.

That shouldn't be a problem, as long as you eat well and take care of your knees. Height is also determined by your individual genetic makeup. Good luck!
Have had tilted kneecaps for many years, and occasional patellar tendinitis.

Everyone has their own pace to grow.  Guys can keep growing taller into their early 20s, so your still have lots of time.  It you are a really competitive athlete you may be keeping yourself on the slim side with your activity level.  Try to pack on a couple of pounds.  Most people have a weight gain, then growth pattern.  And try to get some sleep! (Yeah, I know that's hard in high school)  You repair your body and grow during your sleep.

Good luck.
