Am I hurting my knee?
« on: February 07, 2012, 03:03:34 AM »
Hi,

Im 24 years old.. about 5 months ago I had a partial meniscetomy in which the surgeon was forced to almost remove half of my medial meniscus. It was the posterior horn. Everything else was great.

Anyways I am currently in my last semester of college and once a week we have a gym class. We mainly do laps around the gym, beep/shuttle runs, stretches... etc
I usually shoot around in basketball before the actual class starts.

My question is am I hurting my knee from doing this gym class? Am I forcing too much pressure? Its only once a week for a hour. I dont do any other sports. I actually injured my meniscus from falling down a flight of stairs (Not sports related).

Surgeon says that I can do anything I want except run marathons, and he did NOT recommend a brace saying my knee was NOT unstable.
But I am still worried I may be doing some damage which will lead to earlier arthritis.

Any thoughts anyone?
