MPFL Recovery and Rehab, Bursa
« on: March 14, 2012, 10:18:06 AM »
I'd like to share some info regarding mpfl surgery and rehab. I'm 32 and I have been an athlete all my life, I had one knee scope when I was 17, but other than that no previous knee surgeries. How it day during muay thai, I stepped backwards and my knee buckled, snapped, twisted...all from just one small step. The pain was horrible. Doc said I needed a scope for a full thickness tear of my articulate cartilage...the next day I got the scope and then some...a reconstruction of my mpfl using my own muscle and a screw. First couple weeks sucked, lots of pain and only a little ROM. Fast forward...10 weeks. Full range of motion, walking (but still limping a bit), can ride bike for 20-30 minutes, started using elliptical machine. I still have a lot of muscle atrophy and just developed a knee cap bursa. Wondering if anyone else has had issues with their bursa after mpfl surgery?
