TTT Surgery on Dec 30
« on: December 05, 2011, 07:38:06 AM »
So I'm having knee surgery done on the 30th, I believe it is the TTT surgery, but I'm bad with medical terminology.  My Dr is going to be moving a piece of bone on my tibia then realigning my knee and everything with that new place, then putting in a bunch of screws and roughly a 3 inch long metal plate. They're also going to be scraping out all the scar tissue and build up of debris from the cartilege on bone and bone on bone grinding that I've had. I found this place and was hoping people could give me an idea of what to expect?  Thusfar I know that I'll be having at least 1 overnight stay in the hospital after the surgery, and a meeting with a PT specialist before discharge to teach me how to use my crutches. My Dr said I'm gonna be 6 weeks of extreme limited mobility and non weight bearing. From 6 weeks to 3 or 6 months he is going to make me use a walker, as well. And I know that PT will be a given. Mostly I want to hear from other people what their experience was like from check in at hospital to their post op time. I know everybody is different but it should be enough to give me a general idea of what is going to happen to me, and maybe what to expect with post op. I have a shower chair at home already since my knee is so bad that I can't stand for more than 10 minutes. But what other kinds of things might I need to be prepared?
