Acl sprain + loose cartilage
« on: October 17, 2011, 04:11:24 PM »
Hi everyone,

I'm new here, but have had an injury (martial arts) in my knee, so...

The doctor (orthopedic) told me that I probably have some fibres which are teared from my acl, because the other knee is almost MORE loose than the injured one (I'm a bit hypermobile), so it shouldn't be torn or partially torn.
But do you know if the torn fibres heal by themselves?
And if they don't, will I always have a weaker acl?
What consequences may it have? (I dance a lot and do martial arts).

The other thing, which he saw in the x-ray, was a piece of cartilage which had been torn loose. He couldn't see where it comes from, but thinks it can be from the inside of the knee cap.
Do you know what that means?
Will I get arthritis in 10 years because of that?
And can I continue my beloved sports?

I hope you can give me some answers, cause I couldn't find any through google.

:) Lisette from Denmark.
