I had the MFX but not release. In my case I was partial weight bearing after a week at first post op as long as I kept the knee locked straight. I was 6 weeks on crutches all together however it really depends on where the damage was located. I also used a CPM for 6 weeks. Follow your doctors instructions closley being this is a very fragile recovery. I was told 4-6 months for recovery however mine failed so am waiting for ACI procedure in 2 weeks.
Be patient and take your time don't rush it.
Good Luck,
Laurie

In each of my 3 I was on crutches immediately never NWB. I wonder if this is why I have never really gotten it fixed. I would use crutches for a few weeks. I think the last one was the longest and that was almost 6 weeks. My knee is still really messed up and I am going back to the ortho the 25th of this month. It has been a 15 year process...

After my first surgery I made progress for a while but it never went away. I kept telling my doctor, after a reasonable amount of time for muscle recovery etc. He saidit was time for new MRI he wasn't gonna be one of those guys that said " I fixed it . It must be ok." sure enough it showed a new lesion in the repaired carltige as well as a crack and fluid.
Make sure your doctor listens to your complaints and doesn't blow you off.
Good Luck,
Laurie

I was on crutches 6 weeks pwb. I went into all this blind my scan was clean so we went for a look around and I came out with MFX. I think the doctor suspects he will have to do an osteotomy as well as ACI to get me on my feet. I will find out at my pre op appt.
All the best,
Laurie

My MFX was in January and after my ACI I am looking at a year to full recovery. Thankfully I don't work and my daughter is old enough to take care of herself.

Be patient and don't push to hard is the name of the game. I was able to be waited on for a full 8 weeks between my husband and my mother and mine still failed. I know the crutches are awful not looking forward to them again. I hope it all works out for you
