Removing tension band wiring
« on: October 10, 2011, 09:39:30 PM »
My mum fractured her Patella (apparently lower pole sleeve fracture?) 7 weeks ago, but she has a wound sinus that will just not heal  we saw the consultant thursday and he said that she may have to have the wiring removed, as that could be causing the wound. shes not happy about having to go under again, will she? or can they do under local?

The wound has been swabbed and came back normal this wound will just not heal and shes had it 7 weeks.

Chloe,

You might want to post this question under the "bone breaks aound the knee" if you don't get any responses.  Most of the patela fractures hang around there.

I hope you get some responses.  I do not have a tension wire, just 2 screws and a fig 8 wire.

Best of luck!
