Had a Total Knee Replacement @ Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX Dr. RIchard Kearns. I did a lot of research and this guy came up as one of the top 3 in the US.
He takes new patients, but does not take any revisions.
Excellent bedside manner. Hosp treated me very well.
Doc said after 3 weeks, you'll stop cursing me.
After 3 months, you'll start to think it wasn't such a bad idea.
at 6 months, you'll be happy you did it.
Well, I'm hear to report, after six months I often forget I have an artificial knee.
I get cardio in 45min 5xweek min. recumbent bike and then some AMT elliptical stuff. No weights with the leg. It also helped that I had lost a bunch of weight before the surgery and continued to lose, down 80lb to a happy weight of 250. (I'm 50 years old and now quite active again).
Hear about lots of unsuccessful surgeries, people that had bad docs, good docs that had bad patients that wouldn't rehab properly.... But I am blessed. I put in my work and my Doc knew what the hell he wass doing. And my PT guy is a good friend and hard driver.
Good luck to you all. God is great! Prayer works!
