Has anyone traveled to Costa Rica for TKR?
« on: October 03, 2011, 05:48:56 PM »
Hello, As i am a newbie to your site i would like to introduce myself, My name is Kenny and i live in Lower Alabama.

I worked for a major industry for 14 yrs and closed at the beginning of this year.  I am currently in school and uninsured.  My age is 46.  I suffer from OA mainly right knee from a childhood "injury".  I have daily pain when walking and have gone from a 2-3 to a 5-7 (pain factor) the last 6 months. Because of the high cost of healthcare locally i have been researching facilities in Costa Rica for a TKR.  The savings are substantial but i would like opinions from experienced individuals. Have you or do you know of anyone who has sought treatment outside the US and is there a reputable company to help me facilitate my journey?  Many thanks in advance for your replies.

Are you sure you need a TKR? Is there no other less invasive procedure that will help you?
Have had tilted kneecaps for many years, and occasional patellar tendinitis.
