ACL 9 months post-op unstable knee
« on: September 30, 2011, 01:31:12 AM »
Hello!
Still a newbie at these boards but I can get some help.

I'm about 9.5 months post-op and I can play light basketball and other sports (with my brace on of course) but lately when i'm walking my knee would lock and i would feel pain.  It isn't excruciating but I don't think this is normal..?  I've passed my physio test so i'm not going there anymore.  I haven't been regularly staying active though, could that be a factor?  Also when i'm doing crunches and bend my knees, both of them would make cracking sounds.  It also hurts to try to jump too high by solely using the ACL-repaired leg.

I just need to know if everything's okay...

I'm going to see my PT in a few weeks.

THANK YOU!

Best to check with your PT or OS...have you had any traumatic injury sort of events? I can tell you my knee took more than 2 years to feel "normal" again - with periods of feeling pretty good - and other periods of pain and weakness...if you haven't had any new injuries this is probably part of the normal healing process - especially if you've fallen behind on some of the PT exercises.
May 2006 ruptured right ACL and tore medial meniscus
July 14 2006 allograft ACLR and meniscus repair
July 2011..reinjury - is my ACL okay??
December 2011- surgery - turned out to be a articular cartilage tear - MFX and lateral menisectomy
