Hey Shade,...
I have a photo of the external operation scar alongside the knee ... would that be of any help to anyone?
Mark.

Mark,

I'm not sure but go for it.  Some people really get stressed about scars.  Seems weird to me - I'd rather have a scar and a pain-free knee anyday....

12 weeks today!!! ... post op that is!!!
Well well well what can i do now??
Chondromalacia patellae beaten into submission...!!!
Whoever said - no pain no gain...were right!!!
The 12 week mark means I can start getting stuck into a full range of motion and full weight bearing ... lets get stuck into these quads!!
Its time to get out the EMS electric shock therapy and snap these quads into submission...!!!
who's a happy boy then!!!
Mark.

How did everything work out?  Still good?  I'm slated to have this done and I am concerned.  I'm a triathlete and want to get back to running though (I'm out for now .........only bike and swim currently).
Thanks,
Mike

It may be better for you to start a new thread maybe two: one in the General area and one in the Meniscus area.

Smasha, like many Knee Geeks, has not returned since recovery. Their last visit was in December 2007. There are a few people with quite a lot of knowledge about meniscus regeneration and transplants that hang around the Meniscus Board.

Bumping old threads (older than a year) is not always a successful way to get information. Much better to start your own, with a clear title saying what you are asking about.

I think Carticel is ACI (US term, brand name maybe?) so articuklar cartilage rather than meniscus rekated - so best post in that board (in the arthritis forum) :)  The procedure has a very long recovery, usually 12-18 months before any sport.  Where is your defect - patella, trochlea, tibia, femur, also makes a big difference to the protocol, and also whether you need any sort of alignment surgery to fix the cause

Good luck :)
Came off bike onto concrete 9/9/09
LK arthroscopy 8/2/10
2nd scope on 16/12/10
RK arthroscopy on 5/2/15
Lateral meniscus trim, excision of hoffa's fat pad, chondral stabilisation
LK scope 10.1.19 medial menisectomy, trochlea microfracture, general tidy up
