Here's a discussion re: regenexx and other options:

Lottie Fox might be someone you could try to contact (you need 25 posts to the board before you can IM her) . . . I think she's one of the more well-versed on this.

There are several people on here who have received this treatment. And Dr Centaro posts on the Regenexx thread answering many of the questions raised by fairly knowledgeable people.

I would carefully suggest that there was a time when the standard procedure for meniscal damage was to take the whole meniscus out by open knee surgery. If your consultant rejects alternative therapies out of hand, perhaps I would be looking for someone with a more open and enquiring mind. Remember there was a time when working in a sterile environment was also laughed at, as was anaesthetics and penicillin  ;)

To my mind Regenexx is not a scam. I have had consults with Dr Centeno and found him to be honest and realistic. I live in the UK too, and travel has always been a factor. Scooter72 is currently undergoing treatment there and as Sue has posted there are various threads discussing the procedure and those who have been helped (or not) by it.

No treatment has a guarantee. With Regenexx you avoid some of the possible post surgical complications (and as someone who got RSD after a foot surgery I would not neglect those risks....). However, you are placing your faith in a new treatment with little widespread validation. I agree that a consultant who dismisses it out of hand may want to open their mind slightly. Mine says he feels it is very interesting work, and keeps an open mind. Remember that variations of stem cell work are already being used - including in the UK with Anan Shetty and Cartifill which is a MFX based process combined with a stem cell derived collagen paste. There is little doubt that these techniques lay the foundations for the future.

Remember one day people also thought that the suggestion the world was round was flawed.  :P

Science moves on....

Bilateral patella OA since 2009, no surgeries.
Euflexxa working well x3 to current
Right forefoot CRPS post fusion surgery 2011
Refusing to let the ailing parts stop me....
