Screw removal after Fulkersons
« on: July 09, 2011, 11:28:59 PM »
Hi guys,
It's been a year since my Fulkersons, Arthroscopy and Lateral Release (bit of a mouthful) which was at the end of July 2010,
and I'm having my screws removed on Friday (15/7), was just wondering what to expect!
I'm only day surgery again, going under general. But i was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this as the OS said last time that it was a straightforward procedure and wouldn't be so bad, but it left me wanting to hack my leg off!
So any experiences you have would be of great help!
Thankyou, Emma.

It's really no big deal.  I've had it done 3 times...it is a outpatient procedure that takes about 20 min.  I never had a general just light sedation (still don't remember a darn thing) for the procedure.  They generally don't like to put you under general for such a short procedure.  I walked out of the hospital no crutches needed and was back to work the next day.  You will be sore for a few day but nothing that OTC Advil or something similar won't handle.

Hm, they said I'd have to be under general!
But thank you! I was starting to worry about it!
