post partial menisectomy advice
« on: July 11, 2011, 04:31:32 PM »
Hi all

I am new to this site and its fab :)

I am now five weeks post partial menisectomy for a complete medial tear. ( it was originally a small tear  that has torn over nearly twenty years, and i have had one arthroscopy ten years back. Over time the klunking. And locking had got bad despite my life style changes )It was pretty much locked in one position for a month before the surgery. I also have cmp and tracking issues

I am struggling with walking and still using crutches and have impact pain in the medial area when my heel goes down, like a 'jarring' feeling. Have started pt but it was not offered til three weeks after surgery so i am now doing as much as i can to speed things up including going to local pool daily to walk when i can get a lift there as still not driving!

Anyway, guess i am looking for some indication of when the pain might abate...did anyone already feel this kind of pain? And for how long? Any tips to help myself? Is it to do with internal swelling?

Getting married in less than two weeks so really want that walk back!!

Thanks all
