ACL revision or not? Need advice please!
« on: June 22, 2011, 10:43:33 AM »
Hi all,

In september 2010 i had my acl reconstructed using my hamstring on my right knee. I had been cleared by my surgeon and my physio to go back to full contact sports although i wasn't planning on doing so for a while yet. Anyways everything had being going well and was able to run, twist pretty much do what i wanted on it then all a sudden:-

I was messing around about a month ago and jumped in the air - upon landing on my right knee it buckled! with a cracking noise and alot of pain!

I sort of knew but needed to have it confirmed by an MRI scan but have found out the graft has failed and possibly done some damage to the meniscus again and also there is a slight loosening of the PCL but thats not too bad.

So i have a couple of questions:-

1, Do i go ahead and have the surgery or not?

if i do i have two choices:-

Do i use the hamstring on my left leg or do i go for the patella tendon surgury on my right knee? any advice or comments are well received and much appreciated.
