burning over kneecaps
« on: March 12, 2011, 08:33:33 PM »
recently i have been having problems with my knees burning - i have mal-alignment issues but in the last few weeks have been concerned about a new burning sensation over my kneecaps.  i can't think of anything that i've been doing differently to bring it on but suddenly i will get this burning feeling and when it comes on my knees go visably red and hot to touch.  Its not an agonising pain but is worry me a little as i'm due to have osteotomy sugery in about a months time. Any ideas what could be causing this?

It sounds like inflammation and irritation. It happens to me a lot. Are you doing a lot of exercise involving bending the knees or going up and down a lot of stairs?  Those are the things that would trigger mine. Squats, lunges, leg extensions, leg press, stairs/steps, that sort of thing...
