Knee advice please
« on: February 05, 2011, 11:07:30 AM »
Hi all,

Was playing indoor football on Thursday 03rd Feb and all of a sudden my knee felt weird and painful behind the knee to the lateral side so i played in goal.

I have iced it and used heat and i have noticed that its quite swollen behind the knee. I find it hard to walk with the heal down first and tend to toe down which hurts less for some reason. I'm not sure were the pain comes from either the calf, hamstring or inbetween.

Any ideas please

Many thanks

Hey elbowhead so sorry you find yourself here but the best thing is to go see your gp and get it checked out by a profesional and if he thinks its something to worry about he should refer you to an OS or maybe even just a good physio,
have you had knee problems before? and did something happen just before the pain started?
sorry I cant be more help.
Take care Tez

As Tez says, go see the doctor.  No one on here can truly tell you what you may have done, a professional needs to examine and manipulate your knee.  I see from your sig that you have had issues, including a meniscal repair laterally.  That would personally be my first concern given the lateral pain. Can you straighten the leg ok?  The pain behind the knee could possibly be a baker's cyst which is fairly common with meniscus injuries.  Once the meniscus is torn, and repaired, it is relatively easy to do it again it seems! I assume you are RICE'ing the knee.  You have an history of football related injuries so you should definitely get checked out

Good luck :)

Elbowhead sorry i was asking questions that you had already answered in your signature, thats what I get by posting at stupid o'clock when I should be asleep in bed :-[
Vickster is right about what could be wrong with the knee but its best to get a doctor to check it out rather than quessing what the problem is.
let us know how you get on.
