Best knee brace for luxating patella?
« on: January 20, 2011, 08:46:46 PM »
I am 13 years old and a dancer. Both my knee caps chronically luxate, and i have been to PT once for each knee. I know that surgery is usually used to fix this problem, and i am going to talk to my doctor about it, but i was wondering if there was a knee brace that you recommended to help keep my knee caps in place. Prefferably a less bulky one under $100.

Does anyone wear knee braces for luxating patella?

Here are some braces i'm looking at. would you recommend any of them?

Of the 3 you posted, I would go with the Don Joy lateral J. Also look at the Tru Pull Lite brace. I had one similar to that and although it didn't help me all that much, it did a better job then any other one I ever had (and i've had quite a few).

thanks for your post! that brace might be helpful, ill look into it more.

also, what do you think about the CMO J Brace Patellar Stabilizer? It seems like it would really do the job, but it's not so long or bulky.

I am really considering the Breg PTO now. I know a lot of people here use it and like it. Are there any other, possibly smaller less bulky, braces that you might recommend? Obviously there's no completely perfect package, but I was just wondering.
