« on: January 20, 2011, 03:48:43 PM »
Hi i have recently posted my problems on here with my right knee with its clicking sounds and pain on the outside etc .. When i woke up this morning , i went for a walk .. and there was a sharp shooting pain in my left knee just under it by the bone .. it really hurts when i straighten it and bend it back never had this before..But my left knee has been having problems similar to the right apart from clicking sounds.

Can anyone help me or tell me what this may be

Thanks

Shaun, it really could be anything

Under which bone is the pain - there are several bones - knee cap, thigh bone, shin bones?

Was it just a single pain? How far did you walk and what was the terrain like? What are your leg muscles like?  You have mentioned being overweight?  Do you do any exercise like cycling to strengthen your leg muscles?  Does the pain go away with painkillers?  Have you tried icing the knee?  Is there any swelling?  What is your general health like?

No one can tell you what's wrong based on what you have said on an Internet forum  - a trained professional needs to examine and touch your knee.
You need to go back and see your GP, call the hospital and push for the MRI scan and preferably get the GP to refer you for a specialists and/or physio appointment.  If this has been done, call the hospital departments and push for an appointment (politely ;) )

Good Luck - tell us how you get on :)

Single pain, I wouldn't worry about it :) If I worried about every single pain in my 'good' leg, I'd be in the loony bin by now!  Pain the 'good' leg is pretty common as it has to work harder to make up for the 'bad' one's deficiencies, especially if you have a limp for example

Keep chasing for the tests/appointments. If you are that concerned, you could pay privately for an MRI, about 300 :)
